I use 2 methods, the first is gently prying the 2 halves apart using a large
bulldog clip, the second is to gently drop the machine from an inch or two
on a lower corner until the sticktion is lost and the back loosens itself.
If you don't have a bulldog clip you could use any wide metal tool like a
plasterer's float or a putty knife - they're all wide enough to not mark the
casing while giving leverage.
