DayStar made two different CPU upgrade adaptors for the IIsi. One was a right angle design with the lower slot duplicating the IIci slot and the upper being simply an extention of the IIsi slot. The other was a short and straight IIsi to IIci conversion for IIsi PDS cards that would not tolerate being installed in the upper slot of the right angle adaptor*. This plugged onto the IIsi slot that many IIsi PDS boards had, then the IIci CPU upgrade plugged onto it. *Such as the Radius Hard Pivot videocard, according to the 030 Powercache manual. Soooo. The best way to upgrade the CPU and get ethernet on a IIsi is to dig up a dual slot DayStar adaptor and a 50Mhz 030 PowerCache with FPU and a IIsi PDS Ethernet card for the upper slot. IIsi Ethernet and video cards have a port panel connected by cables so it can mount to the slot hole in the back. Most IIsi PDS cards have a IIsi PDS slot near their top edge. With some clever hacking and choosing of the proper cards, it may be possible to build a IIsi with upgraded CPU, ethernet and video. However, I wouldn't place any bes on the power supply being happy with all that! What you must NEVER EVER DO is _directly_ plug any card designed for the IIci, IIvx, IIvi or Performa 600 directly into the PDS of a IIsi or SE/30. Turning the power on (possibly even with just the power cord plugged in) WILL FRY THE CARD and can fry the IIsi or SE/30. ===== It's total Fandemonium! http://www.fandemonium.org __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
