Do you have RAM Doubler or another optimizer running? Two 16's and the onboard 8 would get you 80 if doubled. Try booting with the Shift key down and see how much memory you have then. One 64 and one 8 MB module isn't unusual. It probably got an early upgrade to 8 and then when prices were much lower, someone added a 64. This model didn't require two identical modules to be installed. I believe that started with the PowerPC line.

Is it a flat pizza box with a center plate (or CD) or a rectangular box with the plate (or CD) on the right side? You may have a 610, it only had two slots. I don't remember an upgrade, but if it's the pizza box, you might have an upgraded model (or someone put the wrong sticker on the front).

Hey all. Low End Mac reports that the Centris 650 (aka Quadra 700) has 4MB or 8MB of on-board memory and four memory slots. These can be populated by 32MB 72 pin SIMMs for a total of 132MB or 136MB.

My Centris 650 (aka Quadra 650) has 80MB of installed memory, including on-board memory. It has two 72 pin memory slots. This appears to be odd. First, I am "missing" two memory slots. Second, to get 80MB with two memory slots (assuming 8MB on-board maximum) would require one 64MB SIMM and one 8MB SIMM.

Can anyone provide some insight. I do not know if the logic board could be swapped for one from another Mac. Or if there were revisions to the Centris 650 board. I will have to have another look at the motherboard.

Thank you in advance.

Tristan.
