Also, it's a "PC" shop, but coolerguys.com might have some parts you can swap out to make cooling easier. Things like rolled-up ribbon cables, ultra-quiet fans of all sizes, etc.
This reminds me of something. I once took one of my Apple IIGS machines (had a hot accellerator, hot SCSI drive, every slot filled) and put it inside a PC tower case. I mounted the motherboard vertically. The tower case had fans galore and plenty of room for more, plus I got the main computer off my desk. You might want to think about that too. -----Original Message----- From: Mark Benson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Vintage Macs" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Wed, 14 Jul 2004 16:57:36 +0100 Subject: Re: LC 475/Quadra 605: passive cooling? > On Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at 04:20PM, Niels Bretschneider > <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > >Hello! > > > >I am setting up an LC 475 as a small server. > >So far, I have replaced the CPU (68LC40 > "full" 68040) and will > >probably put a larger 7200rpm hard drive in it. > > Watch the power supply - more aged units sometimes don't give out the > right voltage (should be +12V, +5V and -5V) and will result in newer, > faster drives refusuing to start. > > >Will the machine run with "passive cooling" (fan disconnected)?
