Re: no contrast on powerbook screen

Might be the PRAM.  Sometimes if the PRAM gets corrupted the computer 
won't let you modify parameter settings like contrast.  Boot with 
Cmd-Opt-P-R keys held down and "OK" the resetting of PRAM.  If the 
dialog isn't visible, you may have to take it on faith and wait 
awhile and hit Return, but it should work.

Actually, when I powered it up for the first time, I could see the 
happy face come up and 7 start booting, but I wanted to adjust the 
contrast. When I touched the contrast control the screen went wacky 
and stripey and staticky and then blanked out to its current state.

Any guesses as to what went wrong, and whether it's fixable 
(probably by someone other than me! I'm not a hardware person!) ?

I suppose if I can't fix it I'll look for another PB 160 to buy, 
since I was getting excited about this one and I have this lovely 
new battery.
