Speaking of classic LCs . . . Perhaps someone can offer some helpful words? . . . I've had an LC since 1991, upgraded to system 7.1. Use it only for word processing (Macrite software)and some simple games. Was typing when the following message popped up: INSUFFICENT DISK SPACE TO PERFORM THIS OPERATION. TRY SAVING YOUR DOCUMENT FIRST. So I clicked OK and from the drop down menu, clicked "save" and continued. This happened a time or two later that evening and the next (I think more frequently in the large files I was working on). Later I was typing and got the same message, but instead of saving, I closed the file. When I tried to open up another one, I got the same message, but this time, there was nothing to "save" because the file was not open. I could not "save" anything, because I was precluded from working on any files in any folders.
I put in a disk w/material I created with the same software, but when I tried to access the material on the disk, I got the same message. I never got past the "this material is licensed to . . ." page. My machine: MAC LC system software 7.1 (c) 1983-1992 Total Memory 10,240K Largest Unused Block: 6763K system software 3448K When I open and close other applications (e.g. games) or even repeat the steps I describe above, and I check back in the "About this Macintosh" drop-down menu, the numbers change -- down to 3386K and largest unused block is down to 6448K. (And I didn't erase/delete anything; I can't delete from the Macrite-created files, which is what I want to do. Also when I look at the files I'm trying to open, I can see the following information: Macrite: 38.4 MB in disk, zero K available. When I first discovered the problem, it said 4K available. Then I tried opening and closing other applications, and when I checked back to the Macrite files, it read 2K available, then zero K. I know I need to delete, but I can't! Thank you for any enouraging words . . . ANDREW -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
