Try removing and reinstalling the RAM. That's a
common condition where the RAM bank that holds the
video memory is making poor contact in its slots.

I need to do the same thing with my LaserJet 4M
because most of the time it reports a problem with
SIMM 4, which is the PostScript SIMM, the first time
I turn it on. Turn it off and on again and it's fine
because things have warmed up and moved enough to cut
the thin film of oxidization on the contacts.

It will be total Fandemonium, Summer 2005!
