At one time I could give stuff to schools for children who can't afford a 
computer at home.

It doesn't work any more. No teachers assign work that requires a word 
processor a spreadsheet, or <joke> a c++ compiler </joke>. Rather it's a social 
science assignment that requires an up-to-date browser handling all of the 
newest Javascript and css. We can't have a child feel put down if he can't 
download pirated DVD movies the way his peers do.

Actually I think Steve and Bill do it on purpose just as Henry Ford did. The 
cash cow is entertainment and not computing.
