Yeah...the something-or-other DOS compatible, I'm thinking an LC or Centris model in the '040 era. And they did it again in the PowerPC era with the 6100. It was more than just the PC CPU, it contained all the necessary chips of a PC and then some bridge stuff to allow the PC to pipe mouse and keyboard through to the Mac's mouse and keyboard. Video was a simple A/B switch circuit (you could see either environment but you couldn't have a Nisus Write window and a Microsoft Access window side by side on the same screen).

There was also a 3rd party version around for a long time that you could install yourself, going back to the 286 and (IIRC) fading from the scene in the Pentium era, Orange Micro or Orange PC, something like that. A PC on a NuBus or LC PDS card.

Wasn't there a Mac that had both a 68k processor for MacOS
applications, and a 486 to run PC stuff?
