One feature of the lye etch is that it leaves a surface that seems to age slower than a bare aluminum finish. For electronic panels I've used clear rustoleum spray to preserve the finish. Its sturdier when baked at 180 to 200 �F. It might make a touch up for plasticote. Gerald J.
