I have a '99 Montero and a '68 Caravel that work great together, I think that
the '01 has the same 3.5 V6. I'm in the slow lane going up steep hills,but
that's the only downside that I can report. I average about 14 MPG when towing
in the hills of Vermont & NH.
The '99 Montero is rated for 5000# & has a full frame, do you know if the '01
with the unibody can use a weight distributing hitch?
