Isn't it also necessary to somehow shift the
springplates inboard? What, if anything, remains of
the upper suspension snubber pad?

Type IIIs use full automatics, not AutoSticks...and it
would be their LH drive axles, not torsion arms, that
would be required (they're 26mm shorter than those
used on a manual Type I or III or an AutoStick).
