Hot VWs magazine had an article on the set-up back in June 1994. According to the article, it was pretty much a bolt-in installation once you purchased the narrowed trailing arms (or did the "narrowing" yourself, which was also detailed in the article). As far as I can tell, the spring plates and snubber pads remain exactly where the factory put them. Type IIIs use full automatics, not AutoSticks...and it would be their LH drive axles, not torsion arms, that would be required (they're 26mm shorter than those used on a manual Type I or III or an AutoStick). My bad. Of course. Axles, not torsion bars. Anyway, according to the article Bruce was running 225/50R15s on 15x8" Porsche alloys. If I had access to a flatbed scanner I could perhaps make the article available on-line somewhere... --- Sharkey's Garage <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >...you *can* squeeze 8" wide rims > inside stock rear > fenders, but only just, and only with "narrowed IRS > trailing arms"... ____________________________________________________________________________ ________ Never miss an email again!
