Try disconnecting the linkage from the motor bellcrank
to see how stiffly it operates - it should move easily
by hand, and if it doesn't the pivots are probably the
problem.
It's been a long time since I've seen a Thing wiper
motor, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was
the same as a Beetle one other than the bellcrank -
which is easy to interchange.
If your wiper switch is on the dash you'd need a
pre-`72 motor (they changed the wiring of the park
circuit when they moved the wiper switch to the column
on the `72 Beetles/Supers).

I'll clean and lube everything. This is a fairly new
wiper motor, andit's always been slow. Pretty much
every Thing we've ever had or seenhad wipers as slow
as molasses in January (come to think of it, thewiper
speed in my old Bug and Campmobile weren't any great
shakeseither). And with Thing wiper motors running
from $275 to $395(reconditioned), I'm not in a real
hurry to buy another one.
