Volks, The age-old question, but maybe the answers keep changing with time.
I'm doing a bone-stock (showroom new) restoration of a German 1970 Type 1 1500 sedan. A previous owner had put some ET41 (4 1/2J x 15) wheels on it, which I'm now in the process of replacing (cleaning and powdercoating 5 authentic 1970 wheels). I need new tires. My German Owners Manual recommends 165 SR 15 radials. Sounds good to me. I've seen Coker's ads, and occasional others. In your opinion, are there any to beware of or to avoid? Will any old 165 SR 15 do? I''m thinking of just ordering five generics from my neighborhood NTB outlet (owned by Sears, or usta be). I know enough to have them static balanced off the car. Otherwise, any experiences would be welcome. Any advice?
