My test message made it through! So I should waste no time in posting.
Some of you might remember that I rescued a 1959 ragtop bug from the
scrappers a couple of years ago. Ragtops are rare in Pakistan and so are
bugs from the 50s. And it was a semaphore model! So this was a little gem
which although bastardised to the core had a lot of potential.
Sadly most of the original parts are gone, having been replaced by
'newer' bug parts by some 'enterprising' last owner. Front and rear clips
along with both bonnets post 68. Doors 67 vintage. Seats superbug highbacks.
Fenders post 68 with upright headlamps and tombstone tail lights. Steering
column superbug. Engine and gearbox late 60s 1300 setup. Wheels 67
vintage.The list goes on.
Over the last couple of years I managed to collect a huge stash of
parts which although not yet complete will help me greatly with the resto.
Major thing missing is a pair of correct doors but I have eyed a pair of pre
64 vintage and am in the process of negotiating with a very very eccentric
VW mechanic.
I am trying not to be too wordy here so as to keep everyone awake. So I
think after this intro I should post individual questions/set of related
questions in separate posts. This list has been invaluable in teaching me
loads of VW stuff and I am confident that the nice people here would guide
me immensely through a very tough project.
I seek every bit of wisdom here!!!
