I first used one of these a year ago on a race car that had a brake-bias control lever (long runs of piping to it, plus it was the highest point in the system and would NEVER have bled by pumping the master cylinder) and fell in love with it. If you don't have an air compressor, there's a manual version: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=92474
The procedure for adjusting the pedal freeplay is spelled out in the Bentley manual. Basically, even though the M/C pushrod is adjustable you should never have to mess with it - the preferred way to set the pedal play is by adjustment of the pedal stop plate on the floorboard. There should be 1mm of freeplay in the pushrod to assure that the M/C compensating ports are uncovered when the pedal is up - that equates to about ΒΌ" of play at the pedal pad. --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > I use the Motive system and it works great. > > Bill > > -------------- Original message -------------- > From: "dan moy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Motive, makes a good inexpensive power bleeder: > http://www.motiveproducts.com > > --- On Sun 02/10, Damon & Gay < > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > wrote:From: > > Damon & Gay [mailto: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: > > [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Sun, 10 Feb 2008 > 12:11:33 -0800Subject: [vintagvw] > > BrakesCan anyone advise me on the best way to > bleed a brake system with all new > > parts, including the master cylinder.
