Yes I think you are right. So what I have is aftermarket and could not
be regarded as original. Seems like Id have to make do.
I think you are right about the thickness. I could measure ....the new
one is lying on the back seat of the daily driver 68 but the earlier bought NOS
has the side pieces stashed away somewhere. We did not fit the side pieces as
they made the engine compartment tiny making spark plug change and maintenance
difficult.
Yes the NOS must be shipped in flat boxes as it would break on bending.
The newer one is foldable to a certain extent.
I have the option of visiting an interesting local shop which deals with
all kind of insulation materials. Perhaps they would have something closer to
the NOS stuff.
