It's not really that there's an upper displacement limit for these systems (although CB recommends 1641cc or less) - they're merely saying that the width of the system accomodates 1300 to 1600 BASED engines (as opposed to the shorter-stroke 1200 engines that are about ½" narrower between the exhaust ports). If a stock 1600 muffler fits your engine OK, one of these should too. If you're running stock heater boxes there's little point in having a header that's any less restrictive so one of these should be fine. With big-valve heads, conventional wisdom is that you should be running oversized heater boxes or J-tubes to keep the head temps down, but if you aren't buzzing the engine to high RPM it's really not a big deal (and if your engine is even close to happy with a stock muffler I'm assuming it's a mild one that seldom sees over ~4000RPM). What carburetion are you using? If it's a single, note that you'll get less intake manifold heat with one of these systems than you do with a stock muffler - that could cause some low-RPM driveability issues in cool weather.
