As you may or may not remember, I had installed an electric
fuel pump when my menchanical pump gave up the ghost.
(pardon my coloquialism)
I finally got around to checking the mech. pump. When I
removed it to measure the stroke (4mm to 12 mm, perfect) I
found that I had it installed upside down? Too much
inhalled exhaust perhaps. So I turned it around,
re-installed it, and hooked the hosed back up. Darn.
Then I decided to check its pumping action while running on
the electric pump. Stupid me had put the hoses on
backwards. (in from carb, out to fuel tank) Duh.
I now have new cloth covered fuel lines with clamps on my
working mechanical pump. Yipee.
Moral of the story, Even a blind squirrel will find a nut
once in a while.
