Guys!
A quick basic question:
What valve clearance values must be set on a 1961-2 vintage 1200cc 40
horser???
Engine has different 1200cc heads (changed as per John Muir's advice on
getting a short stud kit) put on at time of overhaul.
I always set the gaps at 0.008 inches on both intake and exhaust valves
(engines later than 1964 should have 0.006 I believe). Now I read in the Haynes
manual that the gaps must be set to 0.008 intake and 0.012 exhaust. Asked a
local VW old timer and he says all engines must have valves set at 0.006 inches.
A bit confused here. Please help.
