Nick, A hammer and chisel. I use an air powered one. But, a hand powered one will do. You just have to be careful not to bend or break the stud. I try to find the strongest looking way and start with a near 90 degree until I get a bite and then tilt the chisel as flat as I can and still keep a bite. This method has worked for me for years.
