I'd check the ignition tune again, giving particular attention to the distributor advance. Have you serviced the aircleaner since the last tune-up? ~22½ MPG around-town isn't bad. I had a 40+ mile roundtrip commute to my last job, where only about 10mi per day was at freeway speeds (the rest was surface street or rush-hour stop-n-go) and got just a hair over 25 overall with a stock 1600DP. A 1600SP gave me 27, as did a slightly warmed-up 1775DP with dual 34ICT Weber 1-bbls. Right now I'm trying to round up parts for a 1300, but I may just slap the ICTs on a stock 1600DP instead.
