Hi folks,

I'm going to pull an engine from a 65 bug. It has merged headers that
protrude 2-3 inches below the lowest point of the engine sump. This means
that I can't lower the floor jack all the way down as the exhaust pipes will
hit the jack.

BTW, I will use the "lower the engine and raise the car" method to take out
the engine as opposed to the "raise the car and lower the engine" method. =)

Two solutions that I know of are....

1. Remove the headers - I don't like this because exhaust nuts & bolts are
a PITA.
2. Use higher/more blocks of wood to support the engine. With this method, I
will have to raise the car a bit higher and/or might have to remove the
shroud, carb, etc...

I'm likely to do #2 first then if it doesn't work I'll do #1 but.........

What do you guys usually do?
