Hi, I own a 71 auto stick too, and I can assure you it is lacking a lot of 
power. 
I got the carburator settled, new gaz pump,good timing but still slow to 
extract tires to get rolling.
If you find what is wrong let me know, I am tired about climbing the big hills 
from 70mph to 35 on top.
