Volks, In renewing the rear seat backrest, luggage shelf, etc., on my 1970 sedan, I've discovered that I might be working with pieces from two different cars. I need your help to decide what was authentic 1970 issue.
I seem to have two parcel shelves. Both are covered with charcoal-gray felt-like carpeting material that also functions as a forward hinge. One is a perfect rectangle, 36.6" wide x 14.5" depth. It has a passthrough for the tiedown strap (a crimped-in aluminum grommet) and stitched-in fibreboard reinforcements along both long edges. The other is full-width, about 43" wide x 14.5" deep. It has cotton straps riveted to each end, presumably to keep it from getting hyperextended upward, and no aluminum grommet for the tiedown strap. Which one was original on a German 1970 model?
