Volks, Where the heat tubes coming from the engine pass through the body into the area under the back seat, the bakelite mating flanges have some sort of gasket to seal them. Or HAD some sort of gasket -- mine crumbled as I pulled the heat tubes.
Anybody know what this high-temp gasketing material is made of? I've never seen the seals in a catalog, so will probably have to cut my own. No big deal, but I don't want to create any new problems. It probably gets pretty warm down there, so roofing felt probably isn't a good idea.
