Anil, Correct. The North American models had a lot of additional emissions-control stuff attached to them -- charcoal canisters, ventilation hoses, etc. -- that the rest of the world didn't have. Original-USA wasn't always the same as Original-Europe. I'm going for the "Original-Europe" package as much as possible.
The USA model had a gadget with hoses attached to the driver-side wall of the engine compartment; mine doesn't. It might have connected to the nipples on the air cleaner -- I don't know.
