Volks,

The Lane Motor Museum ( http://lanemotormuseum.org/ ) here in Nashville has
acquired an apple-green Type 1 and asked me to help decipher its history.

I need some help. Its VIN is: 3VWS1A1B3 3M909473 .

I am figuring that
(a) it is from the Puebla, Mexico, factory (the M),
(b) it's a 1973 model (from the 3 preceding the letter M), and
(c) that it is the number 909,473 chassis built there of this type.

But I'm not sure. And I couldn't find a decoding key for the S1 A1 B3
trilogy.

Who knows the Mexico Beetle system? What does that VIN tell us?
