Greetings Listers,

I remember the Bugs having a medium thickness non-corrugated gray cardboard
trunk liner in the '50s and '60s (I think by the '70s this was a piece of
plastic or vinyl). And the behind the dash wiring was covered by a separate
cover of molded black cardboard that screwed into the body. My '59 VW Bug still
has it's trunk original liner. Though worn and creased it is still intact.

I believe I've seen several different trunk liners offered by various dealers
and parts warehouses.

If I were to replace mine, I would make it out of a single large piece of of
cardboard such as found on a refrigerator packing box or other large piece of
furniture. Once cut to size it would be easy enough to use a tea pot to steam
in the curves and bends. Any exterior grade oil based enamel paint hand brushed
on would provide years of protection. Just my thoughts, your mileage may
vary...

Happy New Year all!
