Hi, Erin,

Yup, that's definitely a cicada you videographed! That's a romantic ballad,
in case you didn't recognize it. Sounds like music to a lady cicada's ears.

Some broods of cicadas are found as far north as Missouri and Illinois, so
you guys in Nebraska probably get them, too. This is what they're calling
Brood XIX of the 13-year cicadas. There is also a 17-year-cicada extant --
their last appearance here was a dud as it was cold, wet and rainy.

And the VW content is clear: My VW is encrusted with them! I drove it
today and, sadly, dozens of them didn't survive collisions with my
windshield. But they'll never clog my radiator! 8^)

Thanks for the story Bert. Are these the same cicadas I hear when I've gone

to BNNTA? I remember it being a constant buzzing sound that droned on all
night long. Here, all we have are the cicadas that pulse when they buzz as
you can hear in this video (though it's short):

I wonder if we will have the outbreak of cicadas this year too?

I guess the VW content is that they are both considered bugs. :)

Thanks for the story!
