Make sure you use the SVDA distributor if you want to go electronic
ignition. I figured out how to install the accufire ignition in it by
putting the rotor in a lathe and trimming a bit of it off so it fits. I
can't tell you how great a VW runs with the SVDA and electronic ignition -
night and a day difference and maintenance free (except for oiling the felt
in the dizzy shaft.)

Lou Ciceran in Lake Havasu City, AZ built a stroker engine for his bus and
he loves it. About 10 years ago, a bunch of us VW bus nuts were sitting
around talking in the sand at Crazy Horse campgrounds there in Havasu and
Lou was explaining how you can take a stock head with a 3 angle valve job
and put that on a stroker engine and have all kinds of low end torque. Now
that's for busses and with bugs, you don't have to have as much torque
because you have less weight to haul around. Less wind resistance too.
Just make sure to heed the advice of Geoff Melnychunk who started me on the
list here back in the mid-90's when he told me, 'Don't overcam, don't
overcam, whatever you do, don't overcam."

I got started with bugs and went into busses pretty quick. They are really
neat old rides. I advise getting rides in different ones until you find one
that fits your personality. Some people are splitty types, others are bays,
and others are truck types.

Seabert turned out wonderful. Glad you got him restored!

Gotta head to bed...ttyl.
