You may not remember me, I never did post much, I was on the list back in the days when Ric the lawyer bought his new beetle, when Rachel the librarian had her bug stolen, and when No Quarter was a newbie. I put my bug, a yellow '71 super beetle, in storage when the transaxel bit the dust in 2000. I'm now getting it back on the road. I have a rebuilt transaxel on the way and have pulled the engine, a 1915 cc with 30,000 miles on it. There is much to do while both are out, including putting the dual carbs back on. I currently have a single carb with a nice big main jet but I miss the sexy duals. I do wonder if perhaps I should take the engine apart and tap for a flow through oil filter. Whether I do or not, are there things I should do while the engine is out? I will check the clutch, and do timing, check plugs, but anything internal? I'll also check the brakes, cables, etc. Oh, I will also need to rewire the engine compartment, those wires are nasty.
See ya around. Dean Johnson Williamson, NY '71 Super Beetle _______________________________________________ vintagvw site list [email protected] http://lists.sjsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/vintagvw
