If I remember correctly, the glass on Bugs is all the same size up until
1971, except for the windshield on Supers after '72.
Electrically, you need a relay and fuse connected directly to the
battery - I remember my '68 had the relay under the rear seat. The relay
should be wired to the ignition so the heater goes off when the car is
shut off.
'72 or '73, the rear window got bigger - and again in '75, maybe. I've
got a '75 rear window in the shed - it's huge.

I don't think the glass is the same size, and you wouldn't be able to
cut it down and avoid destroying the heating elements. They do make
'stick on' type defroster grids, but I don't have any experience with
them.

My 66 is a daily driver in the Midwestern us.
Fortunately, my daily commute is in our small suburban town.
However; our winters can be harsh, and I no longer have a garage,
just a carport. Is it possible to retrofit a 68 defrosting rear
window system to my 66? The previous owner already converted it to
12 volts (not really well, though.)
