Ray and others, thanks. Stock old style Blaupunkt dial radio. No other mods so I guess I'll charge the battery fully and then do the ammeter test with key out of ignition. If I see no more than 50ma then maybe battery is shot. If I see more than 50ma I'll start pulling fuses as electrical system is stock.
