Just a thought, but is assisted touch turned on? This could severely
impact VoiceOver as some of the gestures may not work as expected. Go to
settings, general, accessibility, assisted touch.

double-tap and hold. When you here a sound, immediately move to the right.
After that, you'll find a delete button.
