That tip really helped. I think I may not have been making absolutely sure
that the focus was on the status bar. I have gotten it to work now three times
in a row! Ah, the small things are so important.

one of these top row ituns justflick your 3 fingers together down the screen,

enables one to activate the notification center. I know you are supposed to
swipe downward with three fingers, but I can rarely get it to work or replicate
it once I have succeeded. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
