Hi Veronica, 
Sandy is the expert, but I'll chime in here.
Set the camera so it is in the middle of the page.
Tap on the take picture button.
Then, lift the phone straight up to about a foot or so above the page, you 
should here some beeps, when you do, hold the phone very still and it should 
automatically take the picture and start processing the text.
I discovered, by using the light detector app, that I had been raising the 
phone a little too high. I am totally blind, so I use the light detector app to 
gauge the amount of light.  If I lift the phone too high, then the light 
becomes less bright.
So, once I figured out how high I should hold the phone and still have it 
indicating a bright light, I switched to SayText and only raised it about the 
same height, then I got a great result.
