Hi Dan, Rick, and Others,

Dan is correct. I carefully read through the app description when this thread
first came up, and I think it simply captures an image at high resolution that
can be sent to Dropbox, printed, or sent in image format to iBooks, etc. What's
different about this app from TextGrabber and many other scanning apps for the
iPhone is that it will save to either jpg or pdf format. Perfect OCR also had
that ability, I think. Practically speaking, I believe you could send the
results of this image capture to a desktop computer program that does OCR, and
use more options. But without the feedback on whether the image you took was
aligned, it would be hard to use. You could capture to the camera roll and try
to send the results to TextGrabber, Prizmo, or Perfect OCR, and check whether
those apps worked. In principle, this could give you access to higher quality
scanning options, but the program itself does not OCR.

I can imagine using this with a camera stand accessory, such as the Kickstarter
Scanbox product. (I haven't gotten this app, so comments are only based on
reading the descriptions.)

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
