I used the Southwest app a few years ago and that worked pretty well, but there were lots of unlabeled buttons on the first screen. Once you got past those and to the booking screen, things worked a lot bettter. I recently downloaded this app again to see if things have improved and they have; the app is much more usable and accessible. The only hitch that I've seen so far is when choosing a date of departing or arriving. A calendar appears at the bottom of the screen, and above it is the current month with unlabeled previous and next buttons to either side of the month name. In order to choose a dae, I had to use the next button till I got to the right month and then double tap the date that I wanted in the calendar. Finally, I double tapped the done button. This is doable, but I thought that there would be picker items to choose the month, date, and year instead of a calendar, but oh well. Also, when choosing a flight after you submit the search, I double tapped on the flight, and then on the select flight button that appeared after the flight I wanted. Again, doable but it could be made easier. I haven't actually booked a flight with the updated Southwest app. I think there is an option to add a pass to passbook when you make a trip, but not sure on that. Probably though since many travel apps have that option now. Also, Southwest has also done some work with the NFB and various accessibility consultants to enhance their app and site experience for the blind. I am going to CSUN in March and hope to go to the NFB national convention in July in Orlando, so I will hopefully get more excuses/experience with the Southwest app.
