Is there any possibility that typing mode has been changed from touch typing to direct touch typing. I could see that doing it. Get in a text field and turn your rotor to typing mode and see what you are on and change it if this is the case. I think this only applies if you are running iOS8 and I am not sure I have read everything in this thread so excuse the post if it is irrelevant or redundant.
