Yes, it would be like using Face Time to my husband when he was in the hospital before he passed on. I have one or two things right now that I can't get any app to help with, reading a prescription for example since my Walgreens seems not to have or will not furnish me with the talking labels. I have only asked about once a month since June!
KNFB is great but for some reason it does not read round bottles well, even if I could get the dosage alone, I would know which of the two that tablets feel exactly the same are. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Tuesday, January 13, 2015 11:12 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: be my eyes Kerri, You can read this at the URL Julia provided, www.BeMyEyes.org. Anyhow, here is what it says: How it works First a blind person requests assistance in the Be My Eyes app. The challenge that he/she needs help with can be anything from knowing the expiry date on the milk to getting help crossing the street. The volunteer helper receives a notification for help and a live video connection is established. From the live video the volunteer can help the blind answering the question the blind needs answered. Non-profit - all for love Be My Eyes is a non-profit, put in this world to make the biggest difference possible for blind people. It basically would be like asking a family member or friend for help via Facebook or Skype except that this would mean you have access to somebody around the clock. Probably a good idea not to ask what that ichi spot is on your belly after coming out of the shower *smile*. I guess anything that is very personal is better left to somebody who really is a family nmember or close friend, but nonetheless there are many situations where a service like this could be vastly more useful than the limited information you can get from Tap Tap See. This is even better than sending a picture with a question like one was able to do in that other app which I forgot what it was called just now, but it's been defunct for some time. It will be interesting to see how quickly and reliably one can get assistance with this one and if they are able to continue to offer the service at no charge.
