This is my stance too, and said so directly to the plaintive, without further cluttering the list. This response alas, had to be the exception.

IMHO, list moderation should be left to the list moderators, who accomplish the same goal in a much more respectful manner. Otherwise, complaints like this should be sent to the moderator off list, as they ask for in the first line of the footer of every message sent to this list.
