Hi, The battery case plugs in just as the Edge does with a micro SD plug. The Edge cord as you know has a USB on one end and the micro SD connection on the other. Plug the Edge into the battery case and plug the cord into your battery case instead of your Edge. Then plug the USB into your computer on the other end. As for how long I just plugged mine in and went to bed but I think they said it will charge in about 90 minutes. There are two apps that work with your edge if you have an iPhone. If you type Plantronics into the app store you can find them both with no problems. One I have never used I can't even remember what it is for. The other one is for settings and is pretty cool. It does work with Voice Over.
