The plastic tip that best keeps the edge in your ear is the one to use. Mine came with the medium already attached so that is what I use because it stays nice and tight. To use it with the left or right ear you need to just move the little microphone around so that it fits in either ear. Just make sure you move it in a way it is designed to move. I gave my old legend away and the individual had it three days before she broke it probably by moving it the wrong way, Smile! And I do not use the hook at all. I have a difficult time getting the hook on and off. The hook is optional. However, it fits in my ear so nicely without the hook I wore it home from Church today and forgot it was in my right ear, laughs! I unlocked my phone and it began to talk in my right ear and I thought oh I still have my Edge in my right ear. It is that light and comfortable.
