Hi all, I just called the Apple disabilities department and they told me that you can plug in the new device and let it turn itself on providing it has enough power you can also turn the device off while it's plugged in. In answer to the question about how long to hold the button down when you turn your device on the person I took talked to said 2 to 3 seconds. God bless and thank you all very much. This list has been very helpful to me and I am grateful to all of you.
