Thanks, Neal, I found it but unfortunately the phone cover is so thick that even without this piece of plastic it does not go in far enough to make contact. I was hoping not to take the cover off every time I want to do a recording. I am now trying to find a male to female lightning cable. Regards Fanus

It is the part that would be directly against the iDevice when plugged in. You pull this off and you will have a piece of plastic with a rectangular hole in it that went around the lightning connecter. Let me know if you can find this.
