Nice! So will we then get reminded on the day that its the contact's birthday? Might give this a shot! ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Chittenden" <[email protected]>

Hello,

This is a known bug and we are hoping it will be fixed in the next iOS update. If you enter the birthday in the person's contact entry, iPhone will automatically place it in the calendar. To add a birthday in a contact, go to the edit screen. Near the bottom / end of the screen, activate the add field button and select birthday from the list. Now, you will be able to set the date using the picker at the bottom of the screen - lists for year, month, and day. The fields are initially populated with the current date.

Thank you for these suggestions. They do help, though they haven't stopped
me missing my old Nokia calendar juts yet. :)
One odd things keeps happening, though. I'm trying to enter a friend's
birthday, and for that purpose want to identify it as an all-day event
rather than giving it a set start and stop time. Whenever I double tap the
relevant button, which is what I'm instructed to do, the entry closes
without being saved and I wind up back on the home screen. Has this happened
to anyone? Any workarounds?

Many thanks,
Michelle

Also if you use the month view, today's appointments will be at the bottom
of the screen. They will be just above the today button or just bellow below
the last Sunday of the month.

Have you checked out the notification center yet? It'll have a section
for your calendar, and it'll list the next few appointments you have
coming up.

Hi all,

Well, the process of settling into my iPhone continues with almost
universally positive results. The only hassles have been
transitioning my contacts and calendar from my old Nokia to my new
device. The contacts switch was something of a debacle that I've
decided to tackle manually, just because I'm particular like that. :p
The calendar, however, is a whole other issue. Basically I'm not
happy with the iPhone calendar. It doesn't display what I need in a
convenient way, and I personally don't find it easy to update or even
navigate. Those of you who once had Nokia phones may remember the
calendar, which displayed your appointments right on your home
screen. Are there settings that would reproduce this effect in the
native calendar app?? Barring that, are there any third-party apps
that have changed your calendar-keeping game?

Any and all suggestions welcome.

Thanks a lot,
Michelle
