For those that are hesitant to enter their passcodes in public areas, you could also enter them with either Braille screen input or handwriting input. I use handwriting a lot to enter my passcode and mostly get the code right on the first try. At least with handwriting, each number is not announced when I write it in. I have never used Braille screen input, but it probably works the same way. I do wish I knew of a gesture to erase the last thing entered with handwriting, like you can do with braille input, but oh well. I've got several chances to enter the passcode in correctly so it doesn't bother me.
