yeah, no problems noticed here so far.

Wren, you have to be careful not to pause too long or she will think you have finished. Myself, I have not noticed any difference in her timing for a while, but perhaps I don’t give her time to cut me off.

Hi all, I have also noticed something very disappointing about Siri. You can hardly say anything to her without being cut off you barely get a few words out and she's gone or at least she won't let you say anymore. Sometimes I can only get two or three words out and she cuts me off. I have done this with text message notes and reminders. Thank you all for the nice messages about what Siri is not doing. These are always good to learn from. God bless, Wren Langley

More and more, I use Google. Obviously, Google won’t open apps for me, set alarms, etc., but for non-device specific things I want to know, Google is now more often able to answer my questions. I find that sometimes Siri will, but the way you have to ask her something can sometimes seem rather picky. Example. During the NCAA basketball tournament, I wanted to know when the Wisconsin Badger game with Kentucky was on. So I asked, “What time to the Wisconsin Badgers play Kentucky today?†She didn’t know. I thought I remembered the time, so I asked, “Who is playing basketball at 8:15 PM today?†She said, “Wisconsin is playing at 8:15 today.†Now, I ask you, how silly is that? So since she knew the answer to that and not to when the badgers were playing, she knew half the answer I needed. So, I have now started referring to her as Siri half wit. The one good thing about Siri these days is that Apple allows Google to be put on the IDevice. Come on Apple, it’s not that you can’t do it. Siri used to be better. What goes here?

Ugh! I'm really getting quite disappointed with Siri and, if he/she can't manage those alarms now, well ...

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Maybe we need to start pressing in on some of Siri's behaviour as I don't think it's really coming up to scratch.

Subject: Setting reminders with SIRI has become less useful

Hi,

Just thought I write about something I noticed recently although I can’t say exactly when this started. I used to be able to set a reminder with SIRI in a way that if I wanted to be reminded an hour or so before the appointment or whatever I was reminding myself about, I would simply do it in two parts like this:

Part 1: Set a reminder for Monday at 8 AM
SIRI would then say OK, just tell me what you want to be reminded about. I would then do the second part like this example:
Part 2: Dentist appointment at 10 AM
SIRI would then confirm: Here is your reminder for Monday at 8 AM, it says: Dentist appointment at 10 AM.

Now if I ask SIRI to create a reminder as in part 1 and then tell it what I have above in part 2, the reply will be this:
Here is your reminder for Monday at 10 AM, it says “Dentist appointment†.

In other words it takes the time I want to hear the reminder before the event and adds it to the time I want to be reminded at to create a reminder at the time of the event. I find this very annoying since I always like to remind myself a bit before and to have the actual time of my appointment or phone call or whatever it is as part of the reminder.

Just now I wanted to set a reminder about a Skype call I have at 8 AM on Monday. I tried to trick it into doing it by saying it differently like “Set a reminder at 7 AM on Monday†and then “Skype call with Brian at 8 AM†or “Skype call with Brian in 1 hour†or “I have a Skype call in 60 minutes with Brian†. Each time it figured out that my Skype call was 1 hour from 7 AM and wanted to create a reminder for 8 AM just called “Skype call with Brian†. I finally tricked it by setting the reminder for 7:30 AM and saying “Skype call with Brian in 30†and I guess not saying “30 minutes†confused it enough.

Do I have better things to do than to try and be smarter than SIRI? *smile*.

Regards,
Sieghard
